At the end of "Doom of Stars" all seemed lost. A desperate group of young people had tried to flee a Solar system in ruin. But millions were left behind on a stricken Earth. 

Maya - a young, beautiful woman scientist - fled in to the far future, hoping that she would find a world which had been reborn.

Karn was simply a primitive peasant who fondly imagined his little settlement to be the entire World. That is, until his Sun went out.

And so, alone or together, they came to realise that they had not escaped the Doom of Stars and, alone or together, they must attempt to resolve the situation - one way or another.
